(Have gone back to Orieux, am reading it glacially slowly even though it's awesome, although to be fair, part of the slowness is because I like it so much that I'm going to be sad when it's done and there isn't any more.))
Possibly! I'm not sure I would enjoy it nearly as much in French, but... who knows :) It would certainly be very good for my French, although I probably need to practice rather more first so I don't abandon it within the first chapter.
(I am alllllso doing extremely glacially slow French practice with a dual-language Jungle Book, and when I say "glacially" I mean "I'm still halfway through the first story after a month," and have temporarily abandoned Lehndorff for finishing up Duolingo under the vague idea that I'd better at least get through all the Duolingo grammar.)
