(Also, I am amused that your glacially slow reading in German is about par with my reading in English! (Have gone back to Orieux, am reading it glacially slowly even though it's awesome, although to be fair, part of the slowness is because I like it so much that I'm going to be sad when it's done and there isn't any more.))

Possibly! I'm not sure I would enjoy it nearly as much in French, but... who knows :) It would certainly be very good for my French, although I probably need to practice rather more first so I don't abandon it within the first chapter.

(I am alllllso doing extremely glacially slow French practice with a dual-language Jungle Book, and when I say "glacially" I mean "I'm still halfway through the first story after a month," and have temporarily abandoned Lehndorff for finishing up Duolingo under the vague idea that I'd better at least get through all the Duolingo grammar.)
