aaaaaah RL is a thing (work deadline, parents coming to visit) but before I possibly fall off the world for a week I should talk about my lovely RMSE presents because I know they are relevant to some of your interests :D They are so different and I love them a lot!
My gift is 18th-C Frederician RPF and is the hilarious Corporate AU I have always wanted! Frederick the Great as the energetic micromanaging boss/CEO who is always coming up with terrible ideas to inflict on his minions! Heinrich (in canon his brother, and in both canon and AU my problematic fave) as the hypercompetent longsuffering engineer who... also just happens to be Just Like Fritz! I think this is readable without canon knowledge (though of course better if you do know all the references). In particular, if you have ever worked for That Boss... you will understand :D

In which Henry has sex, Frederick has dogs, and everyone has a coffee mug.
My treat (which I suspect one of you wrote -- if not, someone basically read my mind about all the things I love) is Tillerman saga! Horace Greene / Brother Thomas ! A pairing I had never ever even thought of before it showed up in the tagset, but then I started really wanting it and wanting to know what it might say about the series' themes about family and love: as the Professor says, what love does with us, what we do with love. And this lovely story goes into all of that, and also portrays Brother Thomas's faith in such a meaningful way. And how all happy families are different! (I love, love, love that Horace and Thomas find a way to a family and a life that still understand and interwine with the importance of his vows to God). And just so, so gorgeously written <3 (If it's not one of you, maybe it was Voigt who wrote it? :) )

Summary:
Thomas liked him: his barely acknowledged sense of humor, his near-absence of ego, his stubbornness, his devotion to the thoroughly unfashionable, the depth and sincerity of his scholarship. He knew some of the men who moved in and out of their whist game found Horace hard to like. In Thomas’s opinion, they looked for flash and missed substance: all that is gold does not glitter.
