um, wow.

Finished Season 1 of Veronica Mars. That was... the most amazing TV-related experience I've ever had. Wow. Just-- wow. This is also, I think, the first time I've ever a) almost started bawling during a TV show (ep 5, scene between V and father)(no, wait, there were a couple of times during West Wing, but only because I'm terribly cheesy), b) had to stop the program so I could lie on the couch and laugh for about five minutes straight (the revelation in the first five minutes of ep 18) and c) have been really truly impressed by plotting. In a TV show.

It's definitely spoiled me for any other TV. I just started watching Firefly, which I love, but there keep being moments where I yell at the screen, "Hurry up! In the time it's taken you to do your cool artsy panning through Serenity, Veronica Mars would already have consolidated a subplot!" Also, the large plot holes ("Umm... why didn't he/she/it just kill them all? Wouldn't that have been a lot faster and neater?") annoy me WAY more than they would have before VM. Let's face it, I used to watch the X-Files, so you know gargantuan plot holes don't bother... well, okay, fine, they did bother me, which is why I stopped watching.

Anyway, on to the blame-giving. I blame J (who has had phone conversations with me for two years about how great it is) and (to spread the blame) abigail_n (who has posted in her blog for a while about how great it is). A lot. It is All Their Fault that I'm impatiently waiting until August 22, and for that matter that August 22 is a date that I know about.

You and me both, except I blame cadhla and Target, for having it so cheap. :) (Also, I moved on to Angel rather than Firefly, but yeah, much the same sort of "I think I'd've liked this more if I hadn't just watched VM" thoughts.)
