...I think we need another one (seriously, you guys, this is THE BEST) and I'd better make it now before I disappear into the wilds of music performance.

(also, as of this week there are two Frederician fics in the yuletide archive and eeeeeeeeeee)
(huh, only one of them is actually tagged with Frederick the Great even though two with Maria Theresia and Wilhelmine, eeeeeee this is awesome I CAN'T WAIT)

Yes, I was passing on what the lecturer said, summarizing the lecture for you. Which means he missed out the real life Melusine in favour of the Fontane heroine! Incidentally, the German version of the Wiki entry on her already has "Zeithain" in the footnotes. (Melusine's daughter Petronella gets to deflower Hans Hermann in the novel, after all.) (ETA: Meaning: In "Zeithain", he had sex with a Hannover as well as a Hohenzollern, considering Petronella is George I's kid.)

Which means we gossipy sensationalists with scholarly instincts are one step ahead of him! Since it was a literary lecture, it makes sense that he'd be more attuned to possible literary antecedents than historical ones.

(Melusine's daughter Petronella gets to deflower Hans Hermann in the novel, after all.)

Oh, that's her! Cool. (I had to prioritize what parts of the novel to churn through Google Translate, and you can guess what my priorities were. ;) )

ETA: Marwitz can't be the only one starting a family collection. :P

So the scriptwriter(s) of the Trenck miniseries were onto something when letting Fritz see something of Katte in young Trenck?

Exactly what I was thinking. ;)

Also, wow, that timing. Fritz finds out Trenck is probably a spy in October 1745, is already fighting with Heinrich over Marwitz in March 1746. Can you say "rebound"?

Heinrich: And the moral lesson I learned from this was: Always be the first to dump someone, always flirt with more than one person at a time, and either stay the hell alway from anyone interested in Big Bro or make sure they never get close enough to Big Bro to be interested in them. Thanks, Fritz!
