Last post, along with the usual 18th-century suspects, included the Ottonians; changing ideas of conception and women's sexual pleasure; Isabella of Parma (the one who fell in love, and vice versa, with her husband's sister); Henry IV and Bertha (and Henry's second wife divorcing him for "unspeakable sexual acts"). (Okay, Isabella of Parma was 18th century.)

Update: the Prussian archive people responded with my requests to find out how many pages are in the request from Suhm's sister (8 pages) and the envoy correspondence from Peter's son (18 pages), and confirmed that my understanding of the pricing is correct, so that would be 13 euros total for both. This means ordering things should indeed be affordable.

The archives are responsive, I like it! Though I will note that they replied in German, thus confirming for the umpteenth time my experience that you cannot get by in Germany on just English, and that I do need to work on my listening comprehension once my reading comprehension is a bit better.

Eagerly awaiting the delivery of my first order, and then I will try to make translation happen, and that will govern what else I order.
