a couple of completely random things
Jun. 22nd, 2011 08:46 pm1. I just found out my good friend L. is going to have a baby! I'm really really excited about this, as they have been trying for ten years now. (They were the ones who were trying to adopt, and might still be trying actually, but that hasn't worked out for them so far.) I am so pleased for them! Unfortunately, I also found out in the same conversation that the chances are good they might move to Idaho in two months. I'm not so pleased about that, though obviously if it's the best thing for them (they hate living here with the super-high cost of living), well, I'll be happy for them and sad for me :)
2. Since the end of May, E. has known all her capital letters. (I'm working on a post on the book I think taught them to her.) It is the cutest thing ever. She loves it -- she will run around and sound out all the letters on license plates, EXIT signs, etc. (Though she normally reads them right to left -- "T! I! Ash [X]! Eeeee!" -- which is interesting to me; don't know where she got that from, as obviously we always do left to right.) She can also do half of the numbers now, although 7 still stymies her (she thinks it's a 1) and she's not sure what the difference is between 6 and 9, and her words for 3 and 4 sound extremely similar to me ("faf!"). Lower case letters still often confuse her, however (except the ones that look exactly like their upper case counterparts).
<\bragging> Okay, back to the irregular book rants.
