Mes amies, I hardly dare to bring this up, but: how about considering to join the Unsent Letters Exchange? My main reason for joining is that the format would be ideal for the Peter Keith fic I still owe Mildred, I have to admit. (Haven't decided yet whether Peter writes his unsent letters to Fritz or to dead lion Katte, but either way, the format would so work.) (And no one else is going request Peter Keith, are they?) Even aside from this, though: the rules say one can nominate up to seven fandoms with seven relationships for each fandom, with a minimum of three fandom to request and a minimum of four fandom to offer. Also, I've never done this particular challenge before, and I can write letters. (And diary entries.) (Also chats of Fritzian fanboys.) (And secret divorce lawyer texts.)
Other than Mildred's Peter Keith fic, here are some more ideas for unsent letters, both serious and cracky: G2's challenging FW to personal combat, and FW's equally unsent and/or confiscated reply; Katte to Fritz from August to November 1730; Lehndorff to Heinrich or vice versa, making up after a quarrel during one of their on/off phases; Voltaire to รmilie or vice versa (since all of their correspondence has been lost), including one after her death from Prussia ("Yes, you told me so; but dammit, why can't you be around right now to say to me: I told you so!"); Heinrich when he moves into Wusterhausen two years before his death to any and all of his dead family members; Hans Heinrich trying to understand why his son did what he did and trying to cope with his loss by writing to him; and so forth.
This sounds lovely, but if I talk about signing up for any exchanges or even writing you treats, or writing fanfic in any other form, before June, someone hack my computer and shut it down remotely, I'm serious. Possibly electrically shock me if you can swing it.
Sleep. Work. German. *cough* Things I owe people. Once all of these are under control, fic research (in German). THEN FIC. :P
But your ideas are all amaaaaaaazing and you should write at least one of them so we can read it! :) Or possibly all of them!
Also, I've never done this particular challenge before, and I can write letters. (And diary entries.) (Also chats of Fritzian fanboys.) (And secret divorce lawyer texts.)
Yes, you can! And you should! :D (Without tempting a writing addict with her particular brand of drug. ;))
Oh maaaaan you are tempting me, epistolary (/diary/chat/text/etc.) is my fave! I am super busy right now with RL work/extra-parenting-because-spouse-has-deadline and probably will be for the next... month... but I see the writing period is in March and it may clear up by that time... Ugh, I still probably shouldn't (and if I do it I probably at least shouldn't offer in 18thC so as to not tempt mildred even through beta) but I have a history of doing things I shouldn't do in my right mind, so we'll see :P
But yeah, mildred is not allowed to do it. I suppose if I did it I could request Peter Keith, standing in for her :P
But, like, if you can wait until YT or RMSE, it's not like either of us would NOT want epistolary for those...
what about crack texts between Fritz and Heinrich? or Fritz and Voltaire? WOULD READ
Lol, I was going to say that if you sign up, I am available for LIMITED beta at best, and probably should avoid even that temptation. :P
I suppose if I did it I could request Peter Keith, standing in for her :P
Awww. <3 That's so nice of you.
But people write me (okay, one person writes me :P) Peter Keith all the time without being signed up for exchanges, just saying! There's a Fritz/Algarotti/Katte/Peter foursome in the works that I'm betaing that gets a new scene every few weeks (hence my ability to beta) and one day will go up on AO3. :D
As for RMSE, I'm not ruling out participating in it; it'll depend on sleep, work, health, German, and German reading list. We'll see how the next few months play out. But I will be sure to request Peter if I do!
Epistolary is not my favorite genre as a rule, but I have loved individual epistolary(/diary/chat/text/etc.) works, especially selenak crackfic ones, and anyone can write me angsty Peter writing to Fritz and/or dead lion Katte (why not both! :D) on any given day, and I will eat it right up. PETER. <3
I also admit that the G2-FW exchange especially jumps out at me as something that has the potential to be amaaaaaazing. Would read! Would so read!
And Hans Heinrich is going to break my heart, isn't he? UUGGH in the best possible way.

You would, would you? Well....
๐ง๐ป George II, King of England, Prince Elector of Hannover ๐งโโ๏ธ Friedrich Wilhelm, King in Prussia ๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ฆฑ Caroline of Ansbach, Queen of England ๐งโโ๏ธ Sophia Dorotha of Hannover, Queen in Prussia ๐พ Grumbkow, advisor to FW ๐ง๐ปโ๐ค Lord Hervey, Carolineโs Chamberlain
I especially loved SD and Caroline's different takes on the prospect of their oldest son becoming king, and the different tactics Caroline and Biberius (love his icon!) used to distract and sedate their respective kings.
ahahahaha I loved it! (I also find it hilarious that FW and SD's icons are the zombie people)
I also loved SD and Caroline's feelings about their respective sons becoming king. lol though mildred I was glad you were able to easily decode the last half because once I knew the gist I could get the rest but was having a bit of trouble with that first step :D But then I was also very amused at Grumbkow and Caroline's resolution :)
Well, admittedly I started using the zombie people for SD and FW because the first time I did, it was in the Wusterhausen family reunion tale, when they were, in fact, dead, and yet very much alive in the minds of their children, but once I had done so, I could not stop. Especially since "crowned man" is my default emoji for Fritz, and I didn't want any confusion in the FW vs G2 tale.
Wait, which line did you have trouble with? The only one I couldn't quite figure out was Hervey's first line, with the German flag and the arrow and the vomiting. (He's disgusted at the thought of Germans fighting Germans? Not sure.) Everything else made sense. I particularly enjoyed the pig with the bow-and-arrow, a genius emoji translation of boar-hunting! :D
Re: Hervey - that was my attempt to translate โGermans are the worstโ, a feeling that keeps coming up in his memoirs every time he talks about G2 involving himself in continental politics, and โthese two are as bad as each otherโ., which he says about G2 and FW more than once.
Boar hunting was indeed what I had in mind, though belatedly it occured to me that thereโs another pig association possible with. FW - the โFrรถschlingeโ, which as Felis deduced probably translates into โFrischlingeโ, i.e. piglets - he released in the castle to amuse the kids that one time according to Stratemann. (I bet SD was very unamused.) However, context is everything, so I was reasonably sure youโd figure out which FW distracting activity was intended. :)
I didn't quite understand that Seckendorff and Caroline were trying to distract their respective monarchs. Once you mentioned that, then I understood what was going on :)
Also, we miss you! But I have to admit that things being relatively quiet in salon has been good for my sleep. As has giving up/dramatically reducing German, along with all exciting things on my reading list. Lol, it's like Lent.
Fingers crossed things ease up on us soon and we can enjoy more interactions!
