Nirvana in Fire - finished!

cahnI finished Nirvana in Fire!!!! It was really, really good. Thank you to everyone who told me how awesome it was and how I should definitely for sure see it because it had everything I liked, because you were right :P
Totally random thoughts:
-Wow, episodes 52 and 53!!!! (Also, that was one HECK of a cliffhanger in 52.)
-While we're talking about 52 and 53: LIYANG. PRINCE JING. CONSORT JING. MEI CHANGSU. MARQUIS YAN. MENG ZHI. NIHUANG. THOSE MINISTERS WHOSE NAME I CAN NEVER REMEMBER BUT WHO ARE AWESOME. PRINCE JI (!!) Basically, EVERYONE except the Emperor :P
-Backing up a bit, I am so impressed by the actor who played Prince Yu. I feel like Prince Yu is maybe the most complicated acting job, and he was soooooo good at getting a lot of nuance across. (Also, I may have yelled at the screen every time the Emperor was like "I don't know what's wrong with that boy! Everyone says he's so much like me, why is he so dishonest and grasping for power??")
-That... was actually less sad than the ending I had anticipated <3
-I felt the worst for Fei Liu, honestly. He has no idea, does he :( I am going to pretend that everything was actually OK and MCS just went off with Fei Liu :P
-I know I am just harping on this, but does being Dowager Empress Jing or whatever mean that she can't go off and randomly travel again?? (It would be interesting to me either way -- if she did go travel incognito, that would of course be awesome; but if she consciously made the choice to back Jing's bid for the throne knowing what it would mean for her personally, that would also add to her awesomeness, although I suppose it's not like another emperor on the throne would let her randomly go traveling around either)
-I said tozdenka fairly early on that I would totally watch the spinoff where Nihuang and Xia Dong fight crime, and I STAND BY THAT
-speaking of whichzdenka linked me this hilarious set of ficlets that is... umm... well, it's sort of mostly about Langya Hall shenanigans, although Xia Dong gets a prominent role in one of them (which is unsurprisingly my favorite)
