The Kid had a wonderful and beautiful wedding (I guess I need to stop calling her that now that she is an old married lady!). The weather cooperated beautifully. The cherry trees (at least, I suppose that's what they were) were in bloom, which was lovely. She was a beautiful bride (I wasn't close to crying except for the moment she started walking in on Daddy's arm, trailing the gorgeous veil I wore to my own wedding... ohh!). My family was all very happy. In particular, my mom was very happy and mellow (it was the perfect party for her -- music, dancing, excitement-- whereas ours, much more low-key, was rather more suited for my dad, who left the Kid's reception early). It was also fun to meet all her friends I've heard so much about. Some of them were just utter joys, and I feel so lucky that my sister has these amazing friends; and all of them were at least amusing.

Now, of course, I'm recovering from both a cold (which I have furthermore transmitted to D) and the stomach virus which I finally got. Oh well!

I'm glad you had a good time, and congrats to your sister (and new brother-in-law). Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks! Oh, and did I get through that whole post without mentioning the brother-in-law? Shame on me-- although perhaps a compliment to him, as virtually all the drama in the wedding (nothing bad, but lots of little random things) was caused by my family; he and his were lovely.

I was totally thinking, "wow, it's good ase decided not to visit after all." :)

Would it really be a wedding / major family gathering without unintentional slights? I can be blithe because it's not my family, and I don't have the stomach bug. Anyway - yay! Married! With appropriately cheery icon!

I may be giddy from my tax return, but I feel like I've hit a point of fiscal sustainability and get to spend money this summer! It's very exciting. Excuse me, I need to ogle my savings account again.

Ha! No, and my wedding had its moments as well (though not quite so many, as my sister and mom have a much harder time not rubbing each other abrasively than I do with my mom), and any major gathering of my dad's family (excluding Our Sane Cousins, who are awesome) has had too.

Yay, here's to fiscal sustainability!
