The problem is I can't tell who is doing the asking in "without it being asked by whom" *or* who is supposed to be noticing what in "they may notice." It's clear he's complaining (lol, he's Anderson, of course he's complaining), but not about what exactly.

I think I'm going to go with my original "I did not ask who it is, you may notice," since at least I can make some kind of sense of that, even if I'm not sure that's what it says. I may put [I] and [you] in brackets to signal uncertainty. *ponders*
