Last post, we had (among other things) Danish kings and their favorites; Louis XIV and Philippe d'Orléans; reviews of a very shippy book about Katte, a bad Jacobite novel, and a great book about clothing; a fic about Émilie du Châtelet and Voltaire; and a review of a set of entertaining Youtube history videos about Frederick the Great.

It turns out I have a few hours of free time (!!!! this never happens) that I totally did not think I was going to have, so I am going to try to make a pass at replying to at least some of this (good gosh, I am behind!) and then start the new post :P :D

Oh, this is really interesting. I can see why he was touched and impressed by these guys! Very different but both very affecting.
(And I am always extremely relieved, when reading about executions, when the guy dies on the first blow...)

The speech was very treasonable, and I believe he was seven minutes at reading it

Ha!
