Eight hours of church yesterday! Very little of which was spent passively. Three denominations, three services, two choir practices, one subbing-in-for-choir-directing gig (unsurprisingly, I love choir directing because I get to tell people how to do all the stuff that I wish they would do when I'm singing in choir, WATCH THE DIRECTOR PEOPLE; DIRECTOR, MAKE IT WORTH THEIR WHILE FOR PEOPLE TO WATCH YOU, um, yes, maybe just a little frustrated lately?), and one subbing-for-two-hour-block-of-nursery in which nine kids showed up (and in which R. hit a bunch of people again, although he seemed to do better when I checked in with him regularly when he wasn't hitting; also, we worked out that "cannot play in the fun playhouse when we hit other kids in the playhouse" and that seemed to help some). I seem to have become one of the go-to-subs for my church? Which suits me great, I hate having a calling where I have to be there every Sunday and find a replacement if I'm not there or E is sick or whatever; it works a lot better for me this way.
(You guys, I totally respect childcare providers SO MUCH now. Doing this all day, and having to do diapers/potty (which we DO NOT have to do, we take them to the parents)... I love toddlers, but no. Two hours of it wipes me out.)
D, although he correctly remarked that I have no one to blame but myself, very sweetly made sandwiches and then chivvied us out the door to go bike to the beach for a picnic and it was quite lovely.
