Congratulations! [I'm an engineer, so I won't squee ;-) ]
I was brought up by a somewhat techie mom. She read Mathematics and the Imagination to me when I was a HS frosh. Simply enjoyed the experience at the time - looking back on it, it was representative of a unique upbringing which I appreciate more and more.
And I married a scientist who is hard at work on a report despite having retired a decade ago.
So, personally, I am rather in favor of technically-minded moms. I expect your kids will feel the same way. :-) (My daughter and son-in-law gave me a Lehrer CD with Irish Ballad on it. It is one of my favorites, too.)
