This was a fascinating read, thank you! I should go back and do some L'Engle rereading myself. Of the ones I _have_ reread in the last ten years or so, I find them much more frustrating as an adult than I did as a kid, but still enjoyable (although I suspect I'd find the whole Mr. Jenkins thing much more moving if I ever reread A Wind in the Door). I think my favorite is indeed The Young Unicorns--it's so atmospheric, and as you say the different POVs are wonderful. (Fandom being what it is I'm a little surprised that no one has ever written Canon Tallis/Dean de Henares fic!)
