I didn't really know that! I knew he was called "Farmer George" and while now that I think about it having an interest in agriculture is for a king probably a sign of intelligence and education, of course in the modern US (with our pioneer heritage of farmers trying to scratch out livings in the Midwest) the connotations are somewhat different...
