That is a neat find! Mind you, I can't help but recall that according to Achim von Arnim, FW was friends with Daum (the "all women are whores!" "But my wife, your majesty!" "Okay, all women are whores except for our wives" story). Given that FW had issued a "no money to Prussian princes!" decree, I assume Katte took the loan on his own name rather than that of Fritz, and because he was the son of super rich Hans Heinrich and the grandson of rolling in money Grandpa Wartensleben, he got the cash?

Yep, that decree comes up in the questioning:

Q. If he had not loaned the Crown Prince money.
A: Yes, before the Saxon trip [Zeithain, [personal profile] cahn], before the flight was thought up, 1000 thalers, which His Highness said was for another reason, to repay his debts.
To the question "Why he had loaned money contrary to the edict?" he wasn't able to answer anything except that His Highness promised he would give it back.*
Q. Where he got the money from?
A. 100 ducats from Splitgerber and Daum, 400 thalers from Major von Löben of the Kalkstein Regiment, both under the excuse of recruiting, the remainder he had had himself.

* Katte. That's what a loan *is*. :P
