Update: And as a result of that, I've now invited telophase to come here and tell us all about her fantasy WIP and ask for historical info to help flesh certain aspects out, so if she decides to take me up on it, you may be seeing her here in the near future. :D

Oh maaaaan your second comment here reminded me I forgot to reply to this! This is the greatest thing ever (seriously, I would love to have all the salons everywhere!) and I was reading with great glee and enjoyment :D Especially the Tolkien stuff, actually! -- I know a little more about Tolkien's other work than I used to, and I need to go back and read LotR with that in mind. (I have actually read it since reading his scholarly work, but of course I get rocketed straight back to my seventh-grade self.)

But also it was really fun to read your historical explanations and be like "hey, I know about that! And that too! And I actually asked about that one!" (I particularly cracked up at your mention of uncle/niece marriages :D )

ETA: And FW and the pastors about Wilhelmine's marriage! FW! >:(
