Re: The Great Northern War: Overview
Date: 2021-11-05 04:24 am (UTC)But then again the nice thing about waiting to respond to things is that then I get to reread with the benefit of hindsight from later posts, so that's nice!
Charles XII: "I have resolved never to start an unjust war but never to end a legitimate one except by defeating my enemies." (Voltaire quote.) "We fight on!"
I'm just saying, it's no wonder I thought "I have resolved X" was a perfectly legitimate way to say things :P
I will find an A+ minister who will raise money and armies and generally make himself hated for me! And then be executed before my body's cold."
So I want to hear about this guy!
is he like the tragic FredersdorfPeter the Great: "Ha! I am the real winner of this war."
Ghost of Charles XII: "Mildred still thinks I'm cooler, though."
Hee!

Kind of! Not to fear, he's on my list of things to talk about! I just need to reread the highly inaccurate but more memorable section in Massie and then the more accurate and less memorable in Hatton to get the events straight in my head so I can pass them on.
