No, I actually think Corporate AU is less funny if Fritz/Heinrich is a thing, since it's not canon -- unless the whole story were focused on Fritz/Heinrich crack instead of primarily on corporate AU crack, which would be a very different thing. I think a lot of the humor comes from juxtaposing canon relationships or at least canon emotions with the crack AU. Well, within reason -- I see your point about it being hard to retain all the relationships, and e.g. if you retained Fritz and Heinrich's siblingship I could see Wilhelmine being a close friend or coworker. Or vice versa, but I think it's easier to see how to crackify the Fritz and Heinrich brother relationship than the Fritz and Wilhelmine brother-sister relationship in this context.
Ahh, okay, I got confused by you posting about your love of Fritz/Heinrich at the same time. This is good, this is why I like figuring out my recipients' preferences before the exchange. :D
Selena, what are you planning to request (not nominate)?
Hm, let's see. Here's what I can think of as of now:
- the Fritz/Voltaire ficathon AU (i.e. Fritz is the ficathon organizer with writing ambitions, Voltaire the BNF who also is supposed to beta Fritz' fanfic) - Fritz gets the news of Voltaire's death and/or Fritz gets the first copy of Voltaire's Memoirs or both - Fritz/Voltaire... from Fredersdorf's pov; can be set at any time, but of course the 1752/1753 is really tempting since it coincides with Mike getting married - a "Five Times Heinrich kissed Lehndorff" story - Fritz/Heinrich (I'm a subtext writer in this regard! I love doing subtext! I can't do main text! But you two can!) - Heinrich/Kaphengst: so how did that work for them, and why was it the longest lasting of Heinrich's romances, up to and including postponing Paris trips and selling his treasured paintings to Catherine to cover Kaphengst's debts? Did Kaphengst see something in Heinrich beyond a cashcow?
You know, I'm going back on my thought that Fritz and Heinrich have to be brothers. I just realized I wrote a crack Corporate AU of Moses and Aaron back in the day, and I specifically had them not be brothers (nor Miriam their sister) for what I imagine are much the same reasons you didn't envision them as brothers in your corporate AU. So... yeah, either way is fine with me, and now I'm actually leaning a bit against them being brothers (and Fritz just being... THAT BOSS).
(Still not wanting Fritz/Heinrich for this AU; I actually want it even less if they're not brothers.)
Oh, good, perfect, because I don't want to write Fritz/Heinrich for this AU, and I've been envisioning Fritz as...THAT BOSS. While the brotherly dynamics are v. v. important in canon, I feel the boss/second-in-command aspect of their relationship translates in a much more hilarious way to corporate AU.
