I am super excited about this!

Warning that it is VERY allusive and rather opaque if you don't know a LOT about Richard III and the Wars of the Roses (I think if you do know a lot about it, it is less opaque, but... this is not my demographic, or at least wasn't the first n times I read it). If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, this is likely not for you. If you like trying to puzzle out what the heck is going on, though, and like wacky and historically-informed AU's played straight (vampires treated as part of the natural world order and resulting in Christianity being relegated to a minor sect!) this may be for you!

Ha, I have read this, and "rather opaque" is a good description of it. : ) I think it was not quite for me--if it had been set in a historical period I was into, it might have been different...

Yeah, I also happened to get into Ford at exactly the right time (middle/high school) where I was eating up opaque kinds of things (not least because basically everything was opaque to me at that point, as a not very clueful kid). I daresay if I had read him first at this point in my life, I would have bounced right off him :) (Assuming I still didn't know much about the Wars of the Roses, but that's a pretty good assumption given that everything I know about it is due to reading Dragon Waiting and to subsequent research I did to figure out what the heck was going on :) )
