*nod* I think another thing was that your middle school actually had other kids who liked dragons, which mine didn't. My (second) high school had dynamics much more like what you describe, where there were some girls into clothes and makeup (and sports, maybe?) and some kids (we were also a mixed group) into dragons. A couple of kids went back and forth between the groups, but mostly we ignored each other :)
