I am still working on this comment (it might take me another day or two), but I wanted to say that I realized a couple pages into Sons that I really wanted to just read the whole Tillerman saga from the beginning. I started on an ebook sample of Homecoming and, nope, squicked out right away -- although I think it's more complicated than calling it an abandonment squick, and I'm thinking of maybe getting the paper copy from the library this weekend and starting halfway through -- so I'm reading Dicey's Song right now. I... might have a lot to say about it, though less cross-referencing text than cross-referencing themes and motifs (Gram gets a PHONE! She doesn't have a phone because she threw it away in Runner! I never picked up on that before!)
