Oh, ha -- I read Alexander's Prydain Chronicles, of course, and those were formative for me, but I never got into the Vesper Holly books. I'm not sure why, as I should have been exactly the right age for them. (I did read the first two or three, but they weren't books that stuck with me.) I've also not read the other books you mention, I will have to put them on my list! So maybe I'm just not reading the right books :)
