I'm so glad E was willing to chase this down! Learning how the world really works is a pretty valuable lesson. ...And I worry that no one at the MAA will write back. If her email makes it to one of the graders, I'm guessing they will take her seriously, but my experience with trying to get through the layers of incompetence (or maybe understaffedness sometimes, but definitely also incompetence) in the AMC administration gives me very little confidence. I only ever got results by reaching out to someone I knew personally who was much higher up the chain (I would send you to that person, but as I've mentioned, they've walked away from AMC in frustration).
But if E does get a response, please tell us! Even if this doesn't make a difference for E's outcome, there could be other kids for whom it's the difference between making MOP and not.
I sympathize soooo much with AT! I wonder if she'll end up taking my route of gradually increasing assessment across the school so that she can prove there's a problem. Maybe I should meet her this summer?
