I believe the expression is "Queen Consort"? (As opposed to Queen Regnant, which is what both Elizabeths and both Marys and Anne were.) Anyway, as I said in the other comment: Caroline really is at her best with Peter, generous and kind with no advantage to her that I can see. I mean, if it was G2, I'd say "piss off FW" is the advantage here, but even that would have lost its novelty very quickly, and Caroline, whatever young FW might have felt about her, doesn't seem to have been hung up on him either in the negative or in the positive in any way.

Hey, York is a great city! :) But yeah, if you don't want to be found by FW, definitely Ireland is best. He's not wrong about it not being visited by 18th century tourists, either. Because no matter how beautiful the scenery, other than the Anglo elite everyone is desperately poor and getting more so.
Caroline being thoughtful enough to provide Peter with a German among her servants so he has someone who can talk to him in his own language and who speaks English is again to her credit. Note that Peter's French would not have been of much use to him outside of London, and even in London only in some circles. And of course NO ONE spoke German.
I think he's saying Meinerzhagen and da Cunha (which Peter spells d'acunha, and which I had to google to get the real spelling) spoke the night of Meinerzhagen's death.
Yes, that's how I understand it, too, and then I guess Meinerzhagen had a stroke?
