I was informed when I woke up this morning that there is a Diocletian/Maximian fic in Madness, and I read it and was highly entertained, and also read about the Tetrarchy as directed by the endnote, but I must admit that I still really do not have any idea as to the personalities involved and therefore am clearly missing most of what's going on. (My sole knowledge about this period is that Helena found the True Cross and was Constantine's mom, and Constantine was the first Christian(-ish?) emperor??)

So... O beneficent denizens of salon -- by which I mostly mean selenak because she's so skilled at this, but mildred_of_midgard or anyone else with period knowledge, feel free to reply at will -- please synopsize the tetrarchy and the related personalities in amusing simple words for me? :)

(Yes, I know, I should listen to the podcast, but this is going to take a while as I still am figuring out the German History podcast -- the happy thing is that I think listening in the car might work, though very slowly!)

(Also, I tried to at least leave a kudos and it tells me I left one but it's not showing up??)
