(3) For a while I was playing with the ending not being Voltaire and Fritz getting back together. I decided against it for a couple of reasons, first that I didn't think it would work well for anyone who didn't already know the story, and second that once I made the decision to replace Madame Denis with Wilhelmine and put her replies in as well, which I think made the story much stronger, this ending no longer made sense.
But I think it will amuse you guys:

Collected here are many of the emails from Voltaire to MadameFerney, which tell a detailed story of the circumstances of this exchange and in particular highlight the extremely egregious and hypocrisy-laden behavior on PhilosopherKing's part, while giving justification for Voltaire's actions. About those emails from BestOfAllPossiblePoets to MadameFerney cited on the RWFE page. Do we have confirmation that the emails quoted on this page are actually the original undoctored emails sent by BestOfAllPossiblePoets? Because when you read them all together they, uh, read more like a novel than like original emails sent at different times. Almost like someone had reworked them to tell exactly the story he wanted the world to hear. I'm just saying. -AndreMagnan
