he catches himself thinking more than once that while Fritz never did anything for and much against him, Lehndorff, personally, there was a greatness about those days which is gone now, and no offense, Ferdinand, but Heinrich is the last of the geniuses of those days, if diminished and gone to the west. (Okay, Lehndorff does not quote Tolkien, but you get the idea.)
This is fascinating, and I guess not that far off the truth, really.
