Hmmmph, I feel like you've already written the ones I really wanted to see, lol. (Fritz & MT! MT & Wilhelmine!) I will think about it, although I feel like my history isn't strong enough.

Émilie should totally meet Fritz while in disguise as Emilio!

"You remind me of someone I know," the King mused, tilting his head. "A writer, a great writer, one of the great men of his age."

Émilie bit her tongue. What was he trying to say? "Are you trying to make me feel jealous?" A double-edged riposte, that was: the King had no way of knowing that it was he himself she felt jealous of, not of Voltaire.

"Not at all." The King beckoned her closer. "Have you written anything yourself?"

Émilie realized with a start that the King was interested in her -- well, in Emilio -- and was only barely able to restrain herself from laughing. "A few things," she said. "A few works on moral philosophy and scientific mathematics, if it please you."

The King raised his eyebrows. Émilie recognized the expression; Voltaire had the same one, poised between admiration and cynicism. Ah, Voltaire, she thought, you and he are more similar than you know. Except that Voltaire would not have looked at Emilio with exactly the same sort of hunger as did the King. "Would I have read any of them?"

Émilie had sent the King a copy of her monograph on fire, of course. Whether he had read it was another matter -- "Perhaps," she said honestly.
