I really like your headcanon! And of course I know very much less than either of you, but it does strike me as a reasonable extrapolation given the people I know in RL who embody those qualities. And I also like that it sounds like she was reasonably happy, at least as happy as people got in the 18thC :P (Although I definitely get you about saving him! I am absolutely sure that given how you have described her, as pious and sincerely religious (and Protestant -- my understanding is that Catholicism is a bit different on this point, theologically) that it was something she must have worried about a lot.)
Honestly, from my perspective I'm getting the best deal here: I ask simple questions from a point of total ignorance and suddenly I have this whole flood of anecdotes about totally wacko people. I am LOVING this SO MUCH. I am glad it is helpful for you!
