I like Douglas Adams! But I felt like Douglas Adams had... tighter control over his absurdity? I mean, also I was younger, to be fair, but I went back and read the first chapter of Hitchhikers and he makes wry snarky mostly-true generalizations about people in general, not snarky kind-of-not-true assertions about science and scientists (and Italy)...
