I am trying as a non-Italian speaker to follow the Italian (the online libretto sites seem not to have English translations!), but I can vaguely appreciate the gist of things, and I adore, SO MUCH, how Hampson and Laszlo were riffing off each other in the rehearsal vid, and as you say Hampson is lip-syncing Fiesco’s line bc I guess that’s how singers in duets indeed get familiar with the other person’s rhythm? Anyway, I’m glad this vid induced heart-clutching in you, but really it would induce that in anyone <3
(I love the pointing, and how expressive Hampson is with his hands; I also love how in rehearsals and concerts you can see the singers’ real personalities overlay that of their characters!)
