That's a good point! There are at least two authors (Seth Dickinson and Iona Sharma) I wouldn't have read, or at least wouldn't have read yet, that I'm pretty excited about.
I'm actually kind of excited to see what happens this year and what the effect of all us new people is. I suspect it will have an effect -- my guess is that the awards will probably skew even more away from "literary" SF than they already do, skew slightly away from hard SF, and also skew hard towards stuff available for free :)
