A couple of logistics questions
2. I've been wondering: should we make a DW community? I should say that I definitely do not mind At All hosting it on this DW! (I feel like one of those French salon people :D ) I was just thinking it might make it slightly easier for e.g. other people to find our discussions? (Although I suppose
Re: A couple of logistics questions
(Btw, your links post is missing posts 6-9. I suppose you could just link to the tag now that there is one?)
2. Re the community, I'm leaning toward keeping things here for several reasons:
a) Keeping everything in one place, since we can't import our existing 9 posts.
b) I don't feel like DW communities are so active that a niche topic like this is going to get much more activity than it would get just from the three of us telling our respective followers about it? I could be wrong.
c) We have a really good alchemy and momentum going here that I'm reluctant to mess with, unless there's something specific about this environment that other people are finding a problem. It's really working for me.
But if the team votes for a migration, I will follow you along and may even end up grateful, who knows. :) (I am currently grateful my wife at the last minute talked me out of the place we almost moved to this year and into a different place.)

I feel like I called you our salon hostess at one point! Or if I didn't, I certainly thought about it. And
Re: A couple of logistics questions
(Yeah, I think it makes more sense to just link to the tag at this point!)
2. It looks like there is not a great impetus for a migration, but I wanted to bring it up in case people were interested in that. I agree not being able to import the posts is kind of a bummer, and it's true that it might disturb this magic alchemy that we have here
without mercury I might addI think you did call me the salon hostess! I'm just feeling it even more since I have been reading the Emilie bio (which I've finally finished but it will take me a while to write it up -- you and

Totally looking forward to the write-up whenever you have time! It's
We have the healthy, mercury-free kind of alchemy!Constitution of the Fritz Salon
LMK if there are legal queries and I will either provide my views (which shall not amount to legal advice in anyone's jurisdiction) or the quality-controlled views of others, or vaguely gesture in the direction of applicable textbooks!
Re: A couple of logistics questions
It would also give us a chance to solve some of the problems with linking people to our current threads, which is that most of our comments assume knowledge of previous discussion. When someone went to copy a comment into Rheinsberg, they could add supplementary notes, links, and required reading as needed.
Thoughts?
ETA: Of course, we do run the risk of splitting discussion if we *do* get attention there and people leave comments and questions. But at least the main posts could be a little more polished and work as standalone pieces.

Re: A couple of logistics questions
Rheinsberg
I've invited you both as administrators so you can make whatever changes you want.
I debated "1740 and All That" as a community title, but while it's clever, it's not very informative to the uninitiated and probably won't draw people in. (Do we want that?) If anyone thinks of something that isn't boring but still tells people it's the place to get your Fritz fix, go for it.
[ETA: Aha! It's the community description, not the title, that shows up in search results. So I've set our description to "Frederick the Great" and our title to "1740 and All That". Feel free to offer improvements.]
I listed only a handful of interests; not sure how many of our less famous historical figures we want to list there. I used the English names because it's an English language community and they have the greatest chance of matching on people's searches, even if we use "Heinrich" and "Maria Theresia" in the actual posts.
I've made it so that only select members can post, which so far means the three of us.
Go wild!
