yuletide media consumption?
Before yuletide signups open, what media should I consume or re-consume? (These can be things you've nominated, things you think I should read/watch that other people have nominated, 5-minute fandoms that you think I'd enjoy...) It should ideally be fairly short (meaning single-book or no more than 3-4 hours of watching time).
If I haven't posted about it here in the last year or so, you can take it as given that I probably need to review it at least a little before making the plunge to offer it. (And this doesn't mean I'll actually offer it, of course, but I'll think about it :) Maybe even request it?)
My list so far:
-Soon I Will Be Invincible (Grossman, would be first read)
-Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare) (does anyone have a youtube link they really like? would be a reread, but first watch)
-Romeo es Julia (would be first watch)
-The Perilous Gard (Pope, reread)

Let me link you to my recent post about the 1997 Cinderella musical, as well as to my pimping post from a couple years ago; the pimp post is a little out of date in terms of fandoms but the first two are ones I am still intending to request this year.

Oooooh, right! Cinderella! I saw that post but inexplicably forgot to add it to my list! :)

Peter/Valentine is my unintended Card pairing of choice, and the characters have been nominated, but they don't have the same meta ring.

Queer women pairings:
Ender universe: Petra/Valentine (this may require an AU, since I think there is a very short window where they could meet, but I kind of think this pairing is very cool); Valentine/Novinha (Speaker and sequels), Wang-mu/Jane (Xenocide; ...actually this could be really interesting, and I'd love to read this)
Songmaster: ...all the really interesting characters are asexual in this one, but you could probably do an asexual romance between two of the Songmaster ladies.
Memory of Earth series: I know there must be interesting women to slash in this one.
Hmm, I'm sure there are more that aren't coming to mind. I'll try to see if I can think of any this weekend :)
(So I am heroically restraining from giving the longform of My Lecture about Card and the LDS church and queerness, but I don't actually think he has a problem, per se, with either queer men or women, although boy howdy I didn't realize until the previous post how his work is full of teh gay men. It's gay marriage that is the bugbear, and this will be a problem until and unless the LDS church changes its stance on it. (Or, more likely, until it's a done deal, at which point the LDS church will probably give in. Hi black priesthood!))
(Uh, yeah, that was the short version :) )

I also recommend Eighteen Songs of a Nomad Flute and associated materials.

And for a real 5 minute canon, here's the entire canon of my nomination of "The Influence of Immanuel Kant on Evidentiary Approaches in 18th Century Bulgaria": http://www.acslaw.org/acsblog/law-prof-ifill-challenges-chief-justice-roberts%E2%80%99-take-on-academic-scholarship
