Historical Characters, Including Frederick the Great, Discussion Post 48
Some awesome historical RPF
candyheartsex stories for meeeeee (or by me, in one tiny case) with historical characters! I'm just going to note whom the stories are about here. They are all so good!!
Anne Boleyn/Catherine of Aragorn
Frances Howard and Frances Coke (or: James I's court was basically a HOTBED of scandal, omg)
And two that are also historical RPF but also consistent with the Jude Morgan novel The King's Touch, which is an excellent historical novel narrated by James ("Jemmy") Scott, Duke of Monmouth, Charles II's illegitimate son.
Princess Henrietta of England (Charles II's sister and wife of Philippe I duc d'Orleans)
James of Monmouth/William/Mary

Re: Peter's memoirs - Return to Prussia
Evidently Fritz of Wales doesn't automatically dislike his mother's favourites, despite their feud. Just saying, Hervey, just saying.
If that was an actual commission and not just a "congrats on your accession," I can see why Fritz thought the English thought of Peter as half a Brit! (I've always read that as "I, Fritz, think of him as half British.")
Indeed, same here.
So I left after having seen Paris and the surrounding area, the Court at Versailles, and the other royal pleasure houses.
Peter taking the time to see the sights of Paris before hastening back to Prussia: genuine touristic curiosity, cold feet re: Fritz or both?
My friends always found this letter too lively and too immoderate. I had time to repent of it afterwards.
I bet. Luckily, Mildred has written the fix-it.
I have a hard time reading that as anything but "whom no one had loved except me."
Oh, I'm with you. Also terribly amused. No wonder Peter and Lehndorff hit it off. They evidently have the same ideas when it comes to their respective princes....

Lol.

Both, IMO. I had the same thought. :)
That said, Peter probably knew it was extremely unlikely he'd ever have another chance to visit Paris, so that was probably a significant factor. I'm glad he did!

LOL!! Yes, you're completely right. Darn, now I wish I had read this back when I wrote that fic about their respective immortal crushes. It's the new shippiest sentence from Peter! (Formey, I believe you that he wrote the other sentence, especially after reading this one, but I haven't seen it in his handwriting.)

It occurs to me that in 1729, Peter was the only one willing to escape with Fritz, and all evidence points to him remaining the only one who didn't have to be
baldfaced lied totalked into it. So I could definitely see the words "only one" escaping Fritz's mouth, and/or Peter drawing the conclusion that he was the only one who loved Fritz enough to be like "Let's get you out of here ASAP!!!"ETA: Cahn, remember that there was an abortive escape attempt in 1729, and that Katte only got drawn into the plot once Peter was sent away. At first, there was only Peter. <3

baldfaced lied totalked into it. Mind you, we have no idea whether Doris Ritter offered any opinion, but I would be very surprised if Fritz told her, she just didn't register that highly on his attention scan.Re: Peter's memoirs - Return to Prussia

Ah, true. Poor Doris.
