Haven't read, but definitely with you on relative nerdery-depth issues. On one hand, I get that it's hard, and on another, it's not insoluble (insofar as some writers manage it--beta reader support?--for things they don't love). For me it's like ... well, perhaps don't write that type of nerd, then, and choose a different angle??
