Yeah, E. doesn't find books intense or scary, and not really movies either (though she's never watched or read a true horror book) -- she seems to have a pretty good sense of what's real and what's made up. I read Ender's Game the summer after seventh grade and it was one of those really intense experiences for me -- it's one of the books that I've actually told E not to read until at least that time, because I'm worried about her reading it too early (she read Narnia and Harry Potter too early, with the consequence that she didn't like them as much as I think she would have if she'd gotten to them later).
