and great job ensuring that bad relations would be perpetuated into the next generation.
Yups!
Later on, adult G2, hating on his son Frederick, would rant about how bad it is to defy your father like that. Then remember his relations with his own father. "Well, okay, the father isn't *always* right. But in this case!"
*cough cough ahem*
Frederick the Great, member of a suuuuper dysfunctional family, would later comment to the British ambassador that he was glad his family all lived harmoniously, not like those crazy Hanover cousins.
British ambassador: *blink*
Fritz, a few (days? weeks?) later: *scapegoats his brother for his own mistakes, publicly reads him the riot act saying he deserves to have his head cut off, boots him out of the army and sends him home*
Fritz, for the next year: *systematically humiliates younger bro to the point where remaining brothers blame him for said bro's death that took the form of refusing medical treatment because he wanted to die rather than live without his lost honor*
Fritz: So glad we're not dysfunctional like those other families! My dad only ordered my bff/boyfriend's head cut off in front of me, then made me grovel before him and kiss his boots. You know. Normal family stuff! Which is why we're all so well-adjusted.
