Re: Vienna Joe

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Incidentally, just for completeness' sake, I put something in the library which belongs to that 18th century "Letter from the Dead" genre, because according to the Stabi registration it's a letter from Peter von Keith to Fritz, published 1762. Mind you, nowhere in the text that I can see does it say it's from Peter, just from "your Keith", and since I suspect the number of people who in 1762 knew who Peter had been or even that he was dead were limited, I strongly suspect that it's actually supposed to be a letter from James Keith to Fritz, since James was an internationally known general of great renown whose death at Hochkirch certainly had made the headlines. But on the off chance we're dealing with an early example of Fritz/Peter RPF, I added it.

Alas, though, it's also issue fic, the issue being that the unknown author, who according to the preface wrote this in French (the text is thus a German translation), wants to persuade the "philosopher of Sanssouci" that souls are immortal and the afterlife does exist. What with Peter (or James) writing to him. 30 pages of argument for the immortality of the soul, no less.
