One quick clarification: Brill is the publisher (which I assume has far more say than the author in the price point); Steen is the author's name. I was yelling at Brill because they're an academic publisher that is notorious for doing things like charging $183 for a simple 300-page biography, and they've been the bane of my book-buying existence for a good decade and a half now. Ditto de Gruyter. You may remember me bitching about de Gruyter's selling Bronisch's Manteuffel work for $290.
