(Don't get me wrong, I really like the meeting his maker in uniform story, but I didn't have the visceral response to it that I do to this one.)

You respond viscerally to music, I respond viscerally to the military. That checks out. :)

Also, I didn't know (or at least remember) this story in this much detail, but I did had encountered something like it, and I did know that he didn't totally hate music.
