So, remember that both Fritz and Katte admitted in their interrogation that Fritz used the White Eagle medal given to him by August(us) the Strong to make some cash by selling off individual gems from it? This is what it looked like:

...so, uh, this is the kind of question I ask about shiny things: it looks like the gems were replaced? Did Fritz replace them with paste or were they replaced by real ones later?

Oh, is this the actual one Fritz owned? I was assuming it was an example of the medal of the White Eagle Order, of which there are probably many in Saxony.

As for Fritz, I believe he replaced the gems with glass in his, but I could be remembering wrong.

Aha, a misunderstanding: this isn't the precise medal Fritz received, it's a medal of the White Eagle Order, to illustrate how his would have looked (and why he'd gotten the gems out to sell relatively easily.
