A Dackel, as we call the Dachshund in German, which I think sounds cuter, has to have something of an independent mind, since they were originally bread for hunting, and has to make quick decisions while running. That's my sole reason. Well, that and the fact that a Dackel named Waldi was the official mascot at the Olympian Games in Munich in 1972, and thus was around a lot when I was a small child.
