Re: Katte!

Quick question as I do my [community profile] rheinsberg write-up. The title of this pamphlet being "Wahre Nachricht von der scharffen Execution des mit dem Schwerdt hingerichteten Hernn Lieutenants von Katten," what's the best translation of "scharffen"? While I hope the sword was sharp, that's not a word we would use in English to describe an execution. Brutal? Is that what they're getting at here?

Also, thanks a million for indulging my obsessive detective work on what really happened on November 6, 1730, and who told whom what. :D
