Does the prospect of ending the war justify Breaking this oath? Can Heinrich claim preservation of the Nation supercedes loyalty to his commander? Does tyrannicide apply when Friedrich is an enlightened Monarch? Discuss."
I love this. :D
"How honest about his motives is Heinrich, even to himself? Henri de Catt, who functions as a Greek Chorus in the play, later calls him "envious, scheming wretch" whose "jealousy of the great Friedrich, whose lofty grace he never could achieve" was his true motivation. Is he right? Discuss."
This is totally amazing. I now want ALL the AU Schiller :D (Also all THIS AU Schiller, lol.)
Who is Catt's analogue in Don Carlos, or does he have one? Count Lerma, maybe? (As a lightside version, of course!)
(I thought briefly about writing you a synopsis of the Verdi opera in which Wilhelmine avenges Fritz's death-by-FW for Yuletide -- but it ran aground not only in my lack of time (which was definitely a thing) but also in the part where I didn't feel at all capable of coming up with the Schiller play which Verdi which would be setting to music, even in broad outline :) And then, of course, you produced something much more wonderful for the prompt, so! :) )
