Thank God the king did not trouble to test my knowledge of the science of hydraulics, with which I was totally unacquainted.

This also all sounds completely Fritzian, blaming everyone else for his fountains and so on,and pop quizzing him, and...
Casanova also sounds like a hilarious writer in general. I should look up his memoirs.
