HAHAHAHAHA

I'm certain not one of your historical faves, BUT this one is also disguised history! It's based on La dame aux camelias, the best-selling play by Alexandre Dumas fils, and is basically a thinly-veiled retelling of his own love affair with a "lady of the night" (my MIL's term) and his Daddy Issues with Alexandre Dumas père. Only real life -> play -> opera the daddy validation keeps going up, it's rather hilarious.

If you want a really excellent fictionalized-history bio of the Dumases (though if you get the kindle version the OCD is not great)

(Unfortunately there is no official Kindle version, otherwise I would totally buy it for you. If you would like me to buy you a hardcopy -- though I think you can't read them right now?? -- I would absolutely love to do that. I have a LOT of FEELINGS about this book. And I think you would enjoy it, in the way of sensationalized history, as long as you remember it's a novel and not actually history.)
