Yeah, that makes total sense. I mean, the actual consistency you note (where he consistently underestimated people) makes a lot of sense to me -- possibly as a 50-year-old general you can underestimate your opponent and still win if you are talented in other areas, whereas as an 18-year-old runaway with an abusive despotic father you can underestimate him and... it may turn out REALLY REALLY BADLY.
